How To Book A College Show
Booking A College Show:
Q: Hi, I am a student at School of Rock University. I’m booking shows for our spring semester and am particularly interested in ______ and ______. Can you tell me if these bands can play and how much they cost? A: Our bands don’t have set prices. First check our avails to see if an artist is not elsewhere committed. Then, email the responsible person at GCT or, better yet, fill out our offer form. College shows out of the North Carolina office are handled by kate@groundcontroltouring.com and college shows out of the NYC office are handled by sarah@groundcontroltouring.com. If you are part of a committee, club or other organization with many different people working on an event make sure you designate only one person to contact us on behalf of the group. Tell us how many shows you host per semester, what bands you have had in the past, what venue will house the show and the capacity. Be sure to include whether this concert will be free or ticketed including ticket price and if it is closed to students or open to the public. Lastly, be sure to indicate how much of your semester’s budget you are able to spend on the show. We will try our best to fit your budget and usually can suggest some other band if we cannot. Q: Ok, we’ve cleared our budget for this show with the schools program board. What’s the best way to submit an offer? A: By fax (718-218-8205 NYC or 919-932-9166 NC) on official school stationary. Tell us the Date of show, amount offered, name of the campus organization making the offer, the name/address/phone/fax of the faculty advisor who will be signing the contract, the name/address of the venue (directions if it’s hard), the name and cell phone number of the day of show production contact and times: set length/Load in/door and showtime. Make sure you clear any opening/local bands with GCT in advance. Q: The School wouldn’t give us the funds to afford this show so we’ll pay the guarantee from our own pockets and make money back selling tickets on campus. Is this cool? A: No. Ground Control Touring will under no circumstances engage an artist in a performance where a student, or group of students, is privately funding the band’s guarantee be the concert on or off campus. Q: How do we pay the band? A: We require our bands be paid in full on the night of show after performance. Please let us know in advance what documents or information or forms (W-9) you will need in order to process the check through administration in due time.
