Hailing from the isolated Upper Peninsula of Michigan, Liquid Mike is an alternative rock band driven by songwriter Mike Maple. Life in the UP means most of the time, bands aren’t underdogs or DIY by choice; they’re DIY to survive. So you make records in bedrooms and jam in basement practice spaces, teaching yourself to engineer on secondhand gear. That’s how Liquid Mike wound up releasing five albums in under five years.

Finding humor in everyday stuff, roadside junk, old cars, and the unforgettable sorts of people that make permanent marks on your life, Liquid Mike uses ordinary moments to explore grief, anxiety, love, and growing older. With no attempts to fit into a given trend or moment, they’re becoming more and more confident in their own quirks. As Maple puts it, “I think our band is incapable of not making underdog music. It’s where we feel most comfortable.”
