Slippers is the musical universe of artist Madeline Babuka Black, an ultra-catchy girly and jangly indie pop project gone worldwide with its stunning melodic chops. Originally from Atlanta, GA, the multiphenate mastermind and singing drummer cut her teeth in the Brooklyn indie scene playing in Yucky Duster and other beloved DIY bands while studying at Cooper Union. Slippers then began in earnest after relocating to Los Angeles to pursue an MFA in experimental animation, where the band popped off upon the release of their second LP, Slippers 08 on K/Perennial 2026. The record has received international acclaim, selling out shows and limited edition LPs to critical and subcultural fervor. She has also written music for animated shows, and toured internationally with her own animation as well.
