Announcing Marisa Anderson & Pylon Reenactment Society As Our Latest Roster Additions

Posted 10/07/2016

We’re excited to announce two great additions to the Ground Control Touring roster: Marisa Anderson & Pylon Reenactment Society.

Marisa Anderson channels the deep history of the guitar and stretches the boundaries of its tradition. Her playing is fluid, emotional, and masterful, featuring compositions and improvisations that re-imagine the landscape of American music. Her truly original work applies elements of minimalism, electronic music, drone and 20th century classical music to compositions based on blues, jazz, gospel and country music.

Anderson tours extensively throughout Europe and North America. Her work has been featured in Billboard, Rolling Stone, NPR, SPIN, Pitchfork and The Wire. Midway through 2016 Billboard magazine rated ‘Into the Light #12 on their list of the best records of 2016. Her 2015 split LP with Tashi Dorji was named one of the top experimental records of the year by Pitchfork/The Out Door. She has provided music for multiple recordings, film scores, soundtracks and live shows. Recent festival appearances include the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Sweden’s Gagnef Festival, Fano Free Folk Festival, Le Guess Who and the Festival of Endless Gratitude.

Stay tuned to Marisa’s artist page for news and upcoming tour dates supporting Xylouris White.

Pylon’s celebrated history came to a sudden end with the passing of iconic guitarist Randy Bewley in 2009. Pylon was and always will be Vanessa Hay, Randy Bewley, Michael Lachowski, and Curtis Crowe and it is a certainty that the band will not reform with a new guitarist.

But fortunately for all, Vanessa has gathered members of Athens bands Casper & the Cookies, The Glands, and talented pianist Damon Denton to perform the classic songs live and continue the legacy. Pylon Reenactment Society has performed special occasions Art Rocks Athens events and release parties for “PYLON LIVE” and will play select shows around North America, beginning with a tour of the West Coast this December.

Check out the band’s artist page to check out their upcoming tour dates.
